Restoring degraded landscapes, improving soil health, and strengthening sustainable livelihoods through community-led land restoration.
The Zowerani Land Restoration Programs are community-based environmental initiatives implemented by FarmCom Conservation CBO in Kilifi County. The programs focus on rehabilitating degraded land affected by soil erosion, deforestation, and declining soil fertility. Through sustainable land management practices, the project aims to restore ecological balance while enhancing agricultural productivity.
By restoring degraded landscapes, the program improves soil structure, increases vegetation cover, and reduces erosion. Community members benefit from improved farmland productivity, enhanced food security, and increased resilience to climate change. The restoration efforts also contribute to biodiversity conservation and long-term environmental sustainability.
FarmCom Conservation CBO works with local farmers and community groups to implement agroforestry systems, plant indigenous trees, and apply soil conservation techniques such as mulching, terracing, and cover cropping. Training and capacity-building sessions equip community members with knowledge on sustainable land use and regenerative agriculture practices, ensuring long-term ownership of restoration efforts.
