Protect Our Planet, Preserve Our Future

FarmCom Conservation CBO is actively engaged in environmental conservation efforts in Kilifi County and its environs to safeguard the planet and its resources for future generations. One of their key initiatives is promoting energy efficiency. They support the use of energy-efficient appliances, LED lighting, and renewable energy sources to reduce energy consumption. By encouraging such practices, FarmCom aims to minimize the environmental impact of energy use and contribute to the fight against climate change.

Another significant initiative is tree planting, which is vital for combating deforestation, soil degradation, and desertification while promoting biodiversity. FarmCom has two notable projects in Kilifi County. The first is in Zowerani Location, Tezo Ward, Matsangoni Division, Kilifi North Sub County, where they are planting Whistling pine (Mivinje) to rehabilitate degraded land. The second project is at the Moryani Mangrove Conservation site in Takaungu Location, Mnarani Ward, Shariani Division, Kilifi North Sub County. Here, they are engaged in mangrove restoration, planting 150-200 mangrove trees weekly on Wednesdays. These efforts are crucial for restoring ecosystems and providing habitat for various species.

Wildlife conservation is another area of focus for FarmCom. They support campaigns and donate to organizations working to protect endangered species and their habitats. This commitment extends to raising awareness and educating the community about the importance of preserving biodiversity and protecting wildlife from threats such as poaching and habitat destruction.

Reducing plastic use is also a priority. FarmCom advocates for the elimination of plastic items and promotes sustainable alternatives. They organize and collaborate with other organizations to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic on all living creatures in both green and blue economies. Additionally, they participate in clean-up events in local parks, beaches, lakes, and rivers to remove litter and educate the public about waste management.

FarmCom also emphasizes the importance of volunteering. They offer free environmental and climate change mitigation skills to individuals and organizations dedicated to conservation activities. By sharing knowledge and expertise, they aim to empower others to take action and contribute to environmental protection efforts.

Lastly, they advocate for the reduction of carbon footprints by promoting the use of electric public transportation, biking, walking, or carpooling to reduce emissions. FarmCom also supports stronger environmental policies at local, national, and global levels. By engaging in advocacy and policy work, they strive to create systemic change that supports long-term environmental sustainability.

Through these comprehensive environmental initiatives, FarmCom Conservation CBO is making a tangible difference in protecting the environment and promoting a sustainable future for all.
